As you can see we have developed the idea of optics further by screen printing our own fabric with tight lines and experimenting with the illusion effect by folding etc...

Alternative Fashion Show research
On my latest project I collaborated with my friend Tida Finch. The whole year have been asked over the period of 4 weeks to research, design and make a garment for the Alternative Fashion show at Spitalfields Market near Liverpool Street Station in London on Friday 24th April. The theme was 'workerwear', so we initially decided to research camouflage and illusions, looking at where they are used in the natural and man-made world. Here are just some initial drawings and samples which we developed into the optics idea.....
We really liked the boldness of the red against the harsh line in the machinery section of the Science Museum
Close up of the scales on butterfly wings
This drawing is of an LED light we purchased at the Science museum which we photographed
SEIZURE EXHIBIT BY ARTANGEL
I was also inspired by my visit to see Roger Hiorns' Seizure exhibit, firstly producing drawings from memory and screen printing them in my print block....(Drawings can be found on my facebook page)
Chelsea Project TERM 2- Initial Drawings
For our block rotations we had to produce drawings that were based on the theme 'Collection'. My collection was based on a family member and objects that were personal to her life. Here are some of those initial drawings.....
Brixton Project
At the beginning of my Textile Design degree at Chelsea College of Art and Design we were asked to produce a page for a 'Rough Guide' of London that everybody in class would receive a copy of. We were told to represent some of the many aspects of Brixton life. Here are some snippets of the sketchbook I produced. Mainly these are all observational drawings, later added to along with materials collected and photographs....
A first hand 1 minute portrait along with some raffle slip I found
I really tried to capture the music in this drawing, again first hand whilst sitting on the side of the road near Brixton market and for a moment an elderly woman passed by with her trolley and just stopped to listen
Observing the textures of the worn door up close
Wig Shop, I really loved the use of mannequin heads on the outside of the shop
Threads on the market
Zips from the market
Fruit Stickers
Some unusual caribbean fruit/nuts
One thing that really intrigued me was the amount of fresh fish and meat stalls...
'Peek-a-boo', this happened by chance when taking a photo, something which I didn't even realise when I captured it

Antwerp.....
During the summer of 2008 I had the opportunity to visit Antwerp and attend a short drawing course lead by a teacher at London College of Fashion. We were taught how to develop our skills for drawing observationally from first hand, as well as techniques to help prevent artists block. Here are a few pages from my mini sketchbook.......
