SWAY - Knit Samples

Here are the Knitted sample developments from my drawings. As you can see I have tried to capture the translucent and structural quality of my drawings. Below I have used monofilament and cotton to create 3D forms on the domestic, using a pleating technique to create structure, based on my cell-like drawings ....

SWAY PROJECT- DRAWINGS

The brief for the final project of our 2nd year was based on movements within nature or the 'Sway' of nature. I chose to relate my project to the underwater theme, referring to jellyfish, polyps and other such translucent, bold yet delicate sea creatures as inspiration. Having never created a knitwear garment before I found this project quite a challenge, focusing on the show piece WOW factor rather than a commercially suited design, as I feel it was the best opportunity to display this side of fashion at uni.
