FINAL MAJOR PROJECT..

At last I can present to you my Final Major Project for my degree show at Chelsea. Drawing my inspiration from nature, the theme for my project was threatening postures, researching it natures natural defences and methods of protection from striking warning colours to constructive shells. My main aim was to produce a collection of niche, bespoke garments which subversely contradict knits traditional connotations of warmth and homely. By introducing hard materials such as wood and ceramics, I wanted to experiment with the contrast between hard and soft by using the crochet technique as my main fabric element. With a theatrical quality, I wanted to present crochet in a new contemporary context breaking away from its conventional associations yet still keeping its sentimental and nostalgic qualities....

Here is the main bulk of inspiration behind my research which was displayed on the wall in my space. As you can see my influences are very tribal and earthy....
