Tutu for Belinda...

This is a project I will be working on running up to leaving at the beginning of September. Thanks to the glorious Sally Cook and her wealth of contacts I was put in touch with her friend Belinda who wants me to customise her daughters ballet tutu for her last competition with the company, before she heads off to Melbourne to join the Australian Ballet School. She's given me full creative freedom with how I can approach and complete this... However she wants the theme to be based on painter Amelie Laurence's work, such as colour, context and texture...but the rest is up to me. I have produced a few samples from the research provided, as shown below. Can't wait to get stuck in... Finger crossed I can get it completed in a week!!!

SALA at Red Door Bakery on King William Road

My next exhibition is at Red Door Bakery on Kind William Road. For this exhibition I decided to do something a bit different. I teamed up with my artist friend Rebecca Prince for this showcase, and we decided to focus on both of our favourite things...travelling and in particular our individual trips to India and Turkey. Finally I get a chance to put some of the photos and cultural experiences I encoutnered to good use. I choose to depict them in my sketchbook style mixed media drawing, which I haven't really done big scale before. Funnily enough I actually sold the 2 smaller pieces within the first 10 minutes of the exhibition opening. We didn't have a lot of space to fill but we were happy with the outcomes...

'Homage to Ganesh'

'Another day at Market'

'Morning in Jaipur'

'Nagar Princess'

SALA at Red Poles

As part of this years SALA I have completed some works to hang in a few exhibitions, one of which is at Red Poles in the beautiful McLaren Vale in South Australia. These pieces are based on my textile work which has been developed from previous ideas, as upon request from the gallery. I have also included my 'Pépins' pair from Bridgewater. The two new pieces named 'All in a whirl' and 'Untitled'...

Alice in Wonderland

Here are some photos of the latest work produced for a commission for the Cook family. They asked me to make some party props based on an 'Alice in Wonderland' theme, referring to the old Lewis Carroll book illustrations for inspiration... I really love being creative and daring with these types of commissions, plus it gave me a chance to get back into a bit of painting...

Red Door Bakery

The artwork that I had produced in January for Bridgewater Mill has now found a new home for the next few weeks at the popular Red Door bakery on Queen St. It will also be moved to the King William branch soon! Thanks to Kiel and Emma for giving it a place to stay...

The Cook's Candy themed Party!

I have finally found some photos of the work that I did for the Cook's family birthday party just over a year ago! Oops! I have recently been asked to do some more party props and planning for them for their daughters birthday party next month with the theme 'Alice in Wonderland'. The theme for the party pictured below was 'Candy Land'! I really enjoyed the task.... something a bit different from the norm!...
