Tuch Macabre

For the last couple of months I have been producing a mini collection for the music and art fashion collaborative event, Tuch Macabre. The event showcased the tunes of Climbs, a partnership based on beats and mixes, and 3 Adelaide based designers whose work is a little more eccentric or art focused than the mainstream, Colour Cosmetica were also brought on to supply the models and hair and make-up. The event was fantastic, a truly professional representation of the future of arts collaboration. So much potential with this, a step in the right direction.

My theme was based on pop. So hence my collection was very bold and colourful, with snappy prints, plastic and crochet...

Since returning from my travels I have been so far commissioned for two crotchets blankets, one for a new baby and one a get well soon present. Both used a similar technique with individual colour and motif...

Last Stop. Vietnam.

As the title suggests, my last port of call was 3 weeks in Vietnam, starting in Hanoi and working my way down to Ho Chi Minh, stopping at various destinations en route. I must admit I loved every experience of my travels throughout the months, but Vietnam had something special and I think it was its differences that stood out to me in comparison to Thailand, Laos and Cambodia. I really enjoyed my time in the country and it has so much to offer visually from a variety of landscapes such as Sapa, Halong Bay and my ultimate favourite destination Hoi An, to its traditional arts and food. But I think above all my favourite thing to do was to visit the unbelievably beautiful temples in Vietnam, all hand painted and constructed in vivacious colours and designs. Truly skilled work.

Cambodia

My next pit stop for nearly 2 months was Siem Reap, Cambodia, teaching English at Sacred Hearts School with AboutAsia volunteer program. With the pain of the Polpot era still close to their hearts, the cambodian people are some of the most resilient you will meet after overcoming so much in their recent history their sense of community is overwhelming. I taught 2 classes of 20 children for the duration of my stay and it was so much fun watching them develop in their English skills and seeing them improve so much from my time there, so worthwhile.
